First Entry

Hey everyone! Since I'm starting the photography program at Madison College this fall I have decided to blog about my student work and life. I'll probably write a little on things that happen before the first day (Aug. 23,2010), but mostly I hope to post news about current projects and associations through school.

So Far:

This program is usually a 3-5 year wait list, but I was fortunate and managed to make it in after only one year.

I have been awarded a $5.5K Pell Grant and $1.5K for Wisconsin's returning education scholarship. (Gulp!) This is the first time I have ever been awarded money for anything, and I am so excited. I would not be able to return to school at this time were it not for these grants.

I have been given a list of equipment required for the first week of class, some of which I have never used before (like a light meter). There is a long list, but I have most of the equipment already. I am a little nervous, the program covers mainly studio work with models, dancers, nudes, products, and other trade photography projects. Since I have only worked outside thus far this is a big switch in practice and knowledge for me.

I am excited to finally be working with other photographers in my peer group!
